Raising Funds to Design and Build a Boardwalk
We are working with engineers and park managers to design and build a boardwalk that will route our trails over bridges and platforms to keep your feet dry while you enjoy the view. A boardwalk at Happel’s Meadow will:
• Provide a safe, easy way to explore varied wetland habitats
• Create a welcoming space for all ages and abilities
• Build appreciation for plant and animal life in our 85-acre mountaintop wetland

Summary
Happel’s Meadow, an 85-acre mountaintop wetland in Waynesboro, PA, is a historically significant and ecologically rich area. Once a productive farm and part of a bustling summer resort community in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the meadow now serves as a natural retreat with trails open from dawn to dusk. The area is home to diverse plant and animal life, including the rosebay rhododendron, which blooms in late June.
